Due tomorrow: preliminary steps. Choose a thesis, write an outline, and choose two quotes. This is due tomorrow with no exceptions.
The essay is due Tuesday, March 3. There will be no other homework during this time period.
Question:
How was a system of social and economic inequality for African Americans reinforced by violence, images in the media, and the legal system during the era of Jim Crow? How did African-Americans resist, and how did they survive?
Be sure to use at least TWO primary source quotes. More is better -- it makes your ideas much more powerful if you quote people who actually lived the experiences.
Use the resources given to you in class!

3. Answer the questions that have to do with Richard Wright's article, not with lynching. Put your answers on separate paper. Make sure your answers are thoughtful and complete.

For example, if you went to a couple of Amnesty meetings, you can put them in one paragraph, and write a different paragraph for a different activity. Make sure the work is done up to SLS standards for 7th/8th grade writing. Copies of your goals and reports will be kept in a folder in a file box in the Gr. 8 classroom. Good luck!
