Your project is due...

Dec 14, 2009

HW due Tue., 12/15

Continue working on your projects. You should be vigorously involved in the creation stage -- writing, designing, constructing. Depending on the project choice, some of you will be doing more writing and rewriting than others. If you are doing an essay, consider doing more than one draft.

Tomorrow, I hope to give you your feedback report, as I was ill today. I understand you had a great substitute (Ms. Brody). I will be very "low energy" in the morning, so I am hoping that you will be able to work without lots of prompting.

Tonight might also be a good time to go on nicenet again. You need to do so by Thursday -- the index card is due by then.

DON'T FORGET SECRET SANTA. $1O AND UNDER. SECRET NOTES AND TRICKS ARE ACCEPTABLE, TOO. HAVE FUN WITH IT.

Dec 11, 2009

HW due Mon., 12/11

If you have not turned in a detailed outline, then email one to me. Bring in the printed outline on Monday.

On Monday, be able to show that you have moved past the outline to the next stage...doing some of the things on the outline. There will be a progress grade on Monday (and more work time).

You are, by and large, doing great work!

Dec 10, 2009

HW due Fri., 12/11

Detailed outline.

You will get an extra research period Friday. Note: you will, of course, get back Life Awareness time. Just get this project done now...

Dec 7, 2009

HW due Tue., 12/12

Nothing is due; however, be mindful of the upcoming outline deadline. If your research is "slim," fill it in. You should work at least 30 minutes tonight to add to what you have so far. More if you can. You have class time tomorrow with individual feedback about what you have done so far.

Wednesday is HR Day. Bake your cake, and if you are reading a part, the rehearsal is at lunch tomorrow (Tuesday). Rehearse once if you haven't. The outline is due Thursday.

If you are coming to St. Clement's on Friday, bring the permission slip.

HW due Wed., 12/2

SUPREME COURT DEADLINES, PART ONE

OK, you all need to get busy on your research! You should finish your research by the end of the week so that the creative part kicks in by the weekend. You are not required to do any homework on the weekend, but I suggest that you do a lot of thinking, and you may want to start. I will be doing a "progress grade" on Thursday.

You can always do more research later, but you should have a good understanding of your case by the end of the week.

Here is what everyone should have IN WRITING by Friday, printed up, at our 8:30 class (there is a schedule change, so class is first thing in the morning. If you need to print, come upstairs earlier. You cannot print DURING class):

1. a summary of answers for the case (last page of pink sheet). IN WRITING
2. six primary sources, who said them, and where you got them
3. bibliography of sources used so far

Make sure these sources are good enough for whatever your project is going to be. If you are doing a trifold, you'd better have some sources for BOTH cases.

Here are the links you requested. Why are you going to Google when you have these?

http://www.landmarkcases.org/ GREAT PLACE TO START

http://www.oyez.org/oyez/frontpage

YOU CAN HEAR THE CASES HERE

http://www.aclu.org/ AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION (esp good for TLO)

AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION (really great site to search for all kinds of documents)

Use www.bibme.org to make a proper bibliography of web sources. Go to MLA, and then websites, and then plug in the required information. Listing url addresses is no longer correct or necessary, and it is not the same as a bibliography.

SUPREME COURT DEADLINES, PART TWO

December 7 - 17:
The next step is to begin the creation of the essay, script, or the trifold. If you need any materials, you should have them by Monday.

Everyone should turn in an outline of the project, whatever format it is, on Thursday, December 10. You will have class time that day, and I will work with you individually for feedback.

On December 9 and 11, we will take a break from the project.

You will get another progress grade on Monday, December 14 -- you have to show that you have made substantial progress. You will have class time on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights are homework nights for this project.

The project is Due Thursday, December 17.
