Welcome to Avenues: The World School and History/Humanities 8! This is a fun homework blog that will contain student-friendly posts with information about homework and classwork. You can still consult the official school website at Avenuesnyc.org and iTunesU, where I will upload documents. However, I hope this will help you see what you need more clearly for classwork each day....besides, you can feed the fish! -- Ms. Allen

Read Mastering U.S. History (MUSH -- new black workbook), pp. 82-86. Answer any questions in the book. You might "study" by highlighting important information. It's your book to keep.

HW due Tue., 1/5
1. Choose, "cut," and be familiar with your proposal/choice for the MLK Convocation. Be ready in class tomorrow morning at 8:30.
2. Using the book, OH, FREEDOM!, read the intro. to civil rights, pp. 2-11. It's easy. Then, do these things:
-- write one question like a textbook
-- say what the "Jim Crow" laws are
-- write the contents for a protest sign based on the reading. (If you were going to protest against something going on back then, what would you say?)
"That was easy."
SS8 All, 8:30
ENG All, 9:15
Next week, M and T, also full groups
We will have extra Life Awareness classes next week -- a bunch -- so we can finish our presentations about juvenile rights.
